Bioretec in brief

Bioretec is a globally operating Finnish medical device company that continues to pioneer the application of bioresorbable orthopedic implants. The company has unique expertise combining materials engineering and biochemistry in active implants that promote bone growth and accelerate fracture healing after orthopedic surgery. The products developed and manufactured by Bioretec are sold worldwide in approximately 40 countries.

Bioretec’s new RemeOs product series is based on a next generation of strong bioresorbable materials, magnesium alloy and hybrid composite. The RemeOs implants are resorbed and replaced by bone, which eliminates the need for removal surgery while facilitating fracture healing.

Established in 2003 and headquartered in Tampere, Finland, Bioretec employed 47 professionals at the end of December 2024. In addition, the company’s operations are supported by the Scientific Advisory Board consisting of distinguished international surgeons and by a Regulatory Advisor. Bioretec’s share is listed on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market Finland marketplace under the trading code BRETEC.

Products

Our product portfolio consists of two product families: Activa and RemeOs™.

RemeOs products are made of magnesium (99%), calcium (0.55%) and zinc (0.45%). They carry more load and are well-suited for treating larger bone fractures. The product is safe and tested, and the material composition promotes bone growth.

The first RemeOs product, the trauma screw, is being commercialized in the US. We are expanding the RemeOs™ product series with several synergistic products in the coming years.

Activa products are based on biopolymer (SR-PLGA) and are well-suited for treating small bone fractures, soft tissue lesions, and pediatric surgery.
